Episode 4 - Inauguration

Inauguration

As the nation ushers in a new presidency and perhaps even a new generation of politics, the Sanguine Sunday crew takes some time to contemplate the last eight roller coasting years. Music of the 21st century certainly reflects the war torn, economically worn out, socially destraught zeitgeist.

The sonic waves can get political in protean fashion, balancing out an aural spectrum that ranges from social rhetoric in rhyme to personal meditation in rhythm. We want to share with you some of the recent frequencies that hum with (or shove up against) these political vibrations, and we also dig a little deeper to kick up some of the dusty records that still push relevant social criticism while hungering for the knowledge of self that makes change from the bottom up–that expand the mental type flow. Listening to these joints reminds us that a good many struggles continue to this day despite any claims on our supposed linear progress. Yet, music shines through, dealing out a hopeful healing power in uplifting sound, rejoicing in the exquisite joy of life through a heartbeat drum and celestial word play.

Live from Washington D.C. our private contact “Henry” tells us about the excitement currently bubbling up in our nation’s capital and what we might expect to see in the near future of Obama’s administration. Back in the studio, Aisha demonstrates her ‘each one teach one’ ethos in reading some powerful letters written to President Obama from her middle school students who themselves do not shy away from the exhileration of this time. Finally, we would like to introduce to our audience Shelmatic, who will be holding down the grind on the local beat.

hmmmm…itunes subscription balks on download (both adding manually and using hte itunes banner/button on mypodcast) but I can get the episodes from mypodcast individually just fine.

I noticed this happens sometimes. I think it’s because mypodcast’s bandwidth is overrun, and therefore the rss feed downloads get stuck sometimes. Maybe.

Not sure if there’s an easy fix at this point. I tried the “get” function for a non downloaded episode about 5 times over the period of 30 minutes, and it finally worked. Real annoying. On to the important question I think; Anyone know a better podcast hosting site?
