As San Francisco closes out a gloomier than usual July, we celebrate the source of life in this week’s theme, Sunshine. Tonight, it’s Mama FeelGood and Honey Knuckles holding it down in the studio.

On today’s episode, Aisha ascends us toward the solar nexus with the vibrant sounds of Yppa. Enveloping us in a state of luminescence, Honey Knuckles brings happy waves with the genius of Galt MacDermot’s Let the Sunshine In and the brightness of a classic Arrested Development track. Next we take a break with our homies from OM Records. These down to earth cats share their experiences in the music game and show us how a prominent record label can operate like a warm family. Although, Z-Note and Shelmatic are on a brief hiatus taking a sun ray seeking road trip up the Pacific coast, Z-Note leaves us with a sizzling prerecorded afro-beat session featuring the likes of Fela Kuti and Tony Allen. If you lack the opportunity to enjoy the sunshine right now, we hope this episode will bring in that sanguine sun. Thanks for listening.

  • Them Om fellers got mad k-nowledge yo.

  • That Stevie Wonder into Galt McDermot! jyeeeeeeah. Who’s the singer on the original recording? I remember it was quite surprising.

  • Honey Knucks

The Stevie or the Galt song? I don’t remember who the singer is on the Galt song, but i know it was originally performed by the cast from Hair. That Stevie song is pretty intense, and it’s got Herbie on the keys too :)
